About Me

Hi, I'm C. Henderson (Koneho), a passionate language coach with over 9 years of experience helping people unlock fluency in a way that actually feels natural and enjoyable.

I've taught languages across three different countries, working with learners from all walks of life: busy professionals, students, expats, and lifelong hobbyists. What ties all my clients together is the frustration they felt with traditional language learning methods, you know, endless grammar drills, rote memorization, and textbooks that never quite led to real conversation.

I know that struggle firsthand.

Like many of us, I started learning languages the "traditional" way: conjugating verbs, cramming vocabulary lists, and forcing myself through rigid exercises. It was exhausting, progress was slow, and speaking felt impossible. That changed dramatically when I discovered the work of linguist Dr. Stephen Krashen and his Input Hypothesis (often called the Comprehensible Input approach).

Krashen's research showed that we acquire languages most effectively not through conscious study and output drills, but by understanding meaningful, comprehensible input language that's just a little beyond our current level (what he calls "i+1"). When the focus shifts to understanding messages in context through stories, conversations, videos, books, and real-life exposure language acquisition happens naturally, almost effortlessly, with far less stress.

This revelation transformed how I learned and how I now teach. I immersed myself in authentic input, prioritized low-pressure exposure to the language, and watched my own fluency in Tagalog and Spanish reach high, confident levels where I can live, joke, debate, and connect deeply in both languages.

Today, I bring that same proven, research-backed approach to my coaching. Over the years, I've helped more than 200 clients achieve breakthroughs they once thought were out of reach, moving from beginner or intermediate plateaus to holding real conversations, understanding native media, traveling with ease, or even using their new language at work.

My clients consistently tell me they appreciate:

  • Personalized, input-rich sessions focused on listening, reading, and natural exposure rather than endless grammar correction
  • A relaxed, low-pressure environment that lowers the "affective filter" (another Krashen key) so learning feels fun instead of scary
  • Practical strategies tailored to their goals, schedule, and interests — because when you're engaged with content you love, progress accelerates

Whether you're preparing for a move abroad, wanting to connect with family and heritage, boosting your career, or simply falling in love with a new language, I'm here to guide you with the methods that actually work.

Let's make language learning feel like the adventure it should be.
